Natural Digestive Healing

Your Questions Answered – Common Questions from our Facebook Members

Did you know it is estimated that 74% of American adults suffer daily from digestive discomfort?  Over 70% of the U.S. population is considered overweight or obese and at least 20% of adults suffer from autoimmune conditions!  As technological advances continue to soar, why is our health as a nation continuing to decline?  This has led to a wave of interest in holistic health alternatives, fitness, and lifestyle changes in order to be the healthiest we can be.

But are the changes we are implementing in our own lives actually “healthy” and what is the most superior diet to follow to achieve longevity?  The short answer is there is no one-size-fits-all-approach.  You are unique and your needs are constantly changing depending on health status, age, environment, seasons, traveling, work schedule, etc.  Your dietary and lifestyle choices won’t (and shouldn’t) be the same in the cold winter months as they are in the hot summer months.  They won’t be the same if you get a stomach bug or go on a vacation abroad for two weeks.  Your internal organisms are directly affected by change, whether that be physical or emotional stress, sleep patterns, weather, or travel.

If you are deciding if the GAPS Diet (or any other dietary protocol) is right for you, it is important to remember that everyone reacts differently to what is put in the body.  If you are looking for a quick fix to your underlying health issues, you have come to the wrong place (sorry to be a total bummer).  However, many core GAPS principles including the elimination of refined carbohydrates, sugar, and pro-inflammatory foods that contain gluten and casein, can halt a prolonged immune response contributing to chronic and low-grade inflammation in the body and help regulate blood sugar imbalances.   The GAPS Diet needs to be tailored to support your biochemical individuality and internal environment.  Don’t get discouraged if you are not experiencing instant gratification, which we have been programed to expect these days with the pop of a pill or a “like” on a social media post.  Your health is a true journey, a learning experience by getting more in tuned with what helps or hinders you personally.
